Beijing Day 4

The Holt orientation started at 9am today. They presented a powerpoint to let us know what to expect from the adoption process from now on. We also got updated pictures of the babies. Lilli is so beautiful!!!!! She seems very happy and is smiling in most of the pictures. I also received updated information such as weight, height, likes and dislikes, feeding times. The form said she had one tooth already but in the pictures I can see two and the pictures were taken on Sept 13th so they have probably already broken through. They took pictures of her with her caretaker who they say she is very attached to, so the first few days with us she will probably be grieving. I just can't wait to hold her.
After the orientation we had a delicious lunch in the hotel. The food here is served on a lazy susan with many courses presented. Just turn the "wheel" and get what you want. We haven't had any scorpions or rats yet - that we know of- most of the food in covered in sauces and it is hard to tell what you are eating.
The Temple of Heaven was the next stop and we really enjoyed this park. Alot of people go to the park on Saturday and Sunday to sing, dance, play cards and socialize. It was great to see the people enjoying their free time. They all seem very happy - they would just get up and start dancing or singing and some of them wore costumes. We are quite the celebrities when we go out as most of the people have never seem people with blonde hair. Many of them surrounded us and just stared at everyone. Some even posed in front of us to take pictures with us in it.
Our last stop for the day was Tianamen (sp?) square. There is not much to it. We walked around the plaza which was very crowded, took pictures and then headed back to the hotel.
We need to pack our bags tonight and have everything ready for our 8:30 trip to the airport. We fly out at around 10:30 am and get in about 1:30 then head to the hotel to meet the babies at 4:30 in the hotel. I am so glad we don't have to go the Civil Affairs Office to pick up the babies as most people do. We are all very tired and worn out from the tours but have had a great time in Beijing. The weather for the last 3 days has been incredible - the best they have had in a long time I was told. Edith has a cold and has been having trouble sleeping. She started taking cold medicine so we hope that she gets better soon.
I am going to continue trying to send pictures but blogger is acting crazy and won't download the pictures.

From Tim/Dad: I miss you! You have missed your calling.Should have been a travel magazine writer. Nice job! Looks like you are all having a great time! Where are the photos of Lilly? Did you lay eyes on her in vivo today? Hope Edith is feeling better. I learned from Gordon just yesterday that you were able to blog over there. Lot for me to catch up on this morning. P.S-Killed a 6 point behind the neighborhood Friday. He's at the butcher! (neighborhood kids loved seeing him dragged out between the houses). Andrew and Matt are doing fine. Love ya.

Hi, its fun keeping up with guys. But like the others, was disappointed that I didn't see new pic's. What's wrong with Edith? I saw in Tim's blog she must not be feeling well. Tell her to email me when she can. Sounds like a great trip. Janis
